An ancient Indian poem gives counsel to a pilgrim as to how to proceed when he encounters different travellers. The advice is still valid and consulting experience I know that they are completely correct.
How can practically access specific people?
The One Who | is | he | therefore! |
---|---|---|---|
Does not know and does not, know that he does not know | a poor thing | does not appreciate a councel | Show him your sympathy! |
Does not know and knows, that he does not know | a brooder | will take a councel | Instruct him! |
Does not know and asserts, that he knows | a fool | will ignore a councel | Get out of his way! |
Knows and does not know, that he knows | a sleeper | does not need a counsel | Wake him up! |
Knows and asserts that, he does not know | a sly dog | will abuse a councel | Beware of him! |
Knows and knows that,he knows | a prophet | will give a councel | Listen to him! |
And the moral that follows from this wisdom that can be taken by consultants and consulting companies is:
Give advice to brooders and wake up sleepers! In the rest of the cases your consulting efforts will fall on deaf ears. Do not forget to listen humbly to wise prophets, though, for nobody is so perfect that they cannot learn a lesson!
To which OwnWay has to say the following:
Let us substitute advice with provision of possible ways to go. The ways that lead to further development, both professional and personal. It is up to the traveller which of the ways they are going to follow in their own lives. Such should be the basis of the modern consultancy business.
What is your experience like, consultants?
